Customer review from the Amazon Vine ™ Program (What's this?) The plethora of books on theology pop these days, this is not one of the worst. After the very popular and very successful Left Behind series and fewer Babylon Rising, Dr. LaHaye writes in a style very enjoyable. For the most part, the current work is generally a pleasant experience. My concern is that many view the work of someone who learned to trust (Dr. LaHaye was a pastor in one of the mega churches in the country in San Diego for many years) as absolutely unquestionable biblical studies. Unfortunately, a closer look, especially its Notes of resources demanding raises an eyebrow.
Dr. LaHaye should know better with a degree from Western Theological Seminary. Wikipedia, while a useful tool in the search, not everything a reliable secondary source. LaHaye, but is a bit "cautious with their scholarship, and inclusion of these time honored, revered biblical scholars such as Helmut Koester and Elaine Pagels, who is beaten very well here. Dr. LaHaye and his followers do not seem to tire of the same arguments on inflammatory texts and concepts. What a change a pleasant twould be "to stop the riot and sincerely share a prayer for a world of extreme necessity. But, as mentioned above, this book is not the worst of his kind, and Dr. Tim writes well. If this job interests you, give Elaine Pagels and Bart Ehrman or Francois Bovone test too. Also, write well and with a clarity that belies her academic credentials.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine ™ Program (What's this?) Authors Tim LaHaye and David Miunasaian is right on this – the world is still fascinated by the story of Jesus of Nazareth, more than 2,000 years after his death. Thousands of writers, tons of ink and piles of papers have been spent trying to understand this unusual rabbi who taught a religion of tolerance and love in a world that was brutal and desperate. For example, Bruce Barton in "The Man Nobody Knows" (1925) portrayed Jesus as the builder of the largest ever sales force, inspiring his followers to change the world through his message of love. Others have seen him as a superstar, "" like a man who slowly comes to an understanding of his divinity, as well as fully committed as a blood sacrifice for the good of mankind.
In short, the life of Jesus, as reported in the Gospels canonized, not to mention the canonized, was a mirror in which one can interpret the message depends on the time and place, the perspectives and priorities. Each generation after his departure he asked, "Who was that? How is life? "I expected something very appropriate for this debate in this manual. Instead, I was frustrated by the fact that evening was a simplistic and arrogant, says ancient ways. I guess I would have expected this from LaHaye, coauthor of the moralist "Left Behind" novels planned apocalypse. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The authors ignore over a century of sophisticated criticism and scholarship rather on the meaning and message of Jesus and his life just to channel John the Revelator on the island of Patmos.
In short, I hoped this book would be a rational discussion about what can only be considered as key issues in the experience of Jesus that the phrase in this way, the more value: the life and teachings of Jesus or the death and resurrection of Christ? There are a lot of wealth in the belief that the dichotomy, and there is ample room for the right people for emphasis or perspective. I wish I'd seen some of that wealth in this debate. Research must continue elsewhere.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine ™ Program (What's this?) Tim LeHay, author of the popular "Left Behind" series, brings a little baggage. While I can only speak for myself, I like to think that a writer is willing to hear other views and perspectives that can inform their writings. Tim LeHay not that kind, a fact we know that the first page: one is activated.
As a Christian, I find the reflections on the continuing popularity "of Jesus However, any exercise of real spirituality is not defined as a popularity contest. Rather, it is a serious search for spiritual principles with expert knowledge of the messengers "from above" in their study. Jesus is clearly the lead model of Christianity, which under the function, exclude all reference to the popularity of "."
Mr. LeHay writes in a way that the reader does not leave room for interpretation, their questions are a guideline stating that the focus on his personal views. It discredits opposing viewpoints, attacking their academic achievements, a technique used to great effect by those who might challenge his position. Works so far as to answer his critics, however, lacks any factual basis to adopt their beliefs. In fact, not properly use this method, because if I would give some concrete evidence-based academic to support his thesis. He can not do this.
I am a believer, so I'm not Mr. LeHay audience. Afaid are, however, who could speak, the uncommitted, would not find their arguments convincing. One of the biggest criticisms we face as Christians, is our lack of rigor in the development and support for our beliefs. Mr. LeHay try to remedy this, it still falls short.
